The Frost & Co Dorset Tennis Open runs from 4th August, Sunday to 10th August Saturday 2019 and brings together budding tennis juniors from across the country. This long-established tennis tournament has been running for over 45 years, encouraging young people aged 8 and 21 years old to challenge themselves whilst improving their social skills.
The philosophy behind the event is to help young people take responsibility for their actions, learn to follow rules and become positive role models to the younger competitors. The coveted glass trophy for the event is presented to the player that shows good sportsmanship, honesty, and respect regardless of whether he wins or loses.
This popular event is an open tournament, ensuring that anyone can enter and it’s played on a combination of grass, artificial grass, and hard courts. The tennis tournament takes place at East Dorset Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, Dorset and you can show your support by attending.
The Betty Booth Trophy
The lucky winner will be awarded the stunning Betty Booth Trophy. This coveted tennis award is named after the much-loved Betty Booth, the former Vice President of Dorset LTA who managed the Dorset Open for many years. This amazing lady was devoted to promoting tennis to young people and was highly respected by parents, players and volunteers alike. Betty was hugely involved in the Dorset county Tennis scene and especially by the Dorset boys’ and girls’ squads. Her contributions and hard work throughout the years will be remembered and celebrated for years to come.
The Crystal Trophy
Laser Crystal designed and manufactured the Betty Booth Sportsmanship Award Trophy at their production facilities in Poole, Dorset. The trophy is made from high-quality optically pure crystal and features 3D laser engraving of a tennis player in action. The brightness and clarity of the disc crystal, combined with its weight makes this glass trophy a truly beautiful and timeless piece.
